"TRATTI RITRATTI" UNA MOSTRA FOTOGRAFICA SPECIALE ALL'ISTITUTO ITALIANO DI CULTURA A DUBLINO

Organizzata dall’Ambasciata italiana e l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura, è stata aperta stasera 8 febbraio 2012, nel salone dell’Istituto, una mostra fotografica intitolata “Tratti Ritratti”, voluta quale occasione di incontro per la comunità italiana e per il pubblico irlandese e di altri paesi. La mostra, attraverso 24 foto, opera della fotografa italiana Veronica Vierin, ha semplicemente presentato nuovi aspetti della presenza italiana in Irlanda oggi, costituita da una varietà di persone che operano in settori diversi, in contesi vari e con differenti livelli di responsabilità, e quale omaggio ai reali protagonisti dell'interscambio culturale che lega i due Paesi. Oltre ad un foltissimo pubblico, erano presenti S.E. L’Ambasciatore italiano Maurizio Zanini, il Sindaco di Dublino Andrew Montague e il Vice Sindaco Maria Parodi di distinta discendenza italiana.

SACRED SYMPHONIES

La sera del 4 febbraio scorso, il salone della magnifica City Hall di Dublino ha ospitato il primo di una serie di concerti per celebrare Giovanni Gabrieli, il noto compositore veneziano di musica rinascimentale e barocca del 16esimo secolo. In questa prima serata si e` esibito il noto coro irlandese RESURGAM con un intermezzo all'organo di Malcolm Proud. La serie di concerti, che va sotto il nome di Sacred Symphonies, e` stata organizzata dalla Dublin City Council in collaborazione con l'Arts Council, IBO e Quintessential, col supporto dell'Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Dublino. I BEATLES A DUBLINO

Volete sognare? Volete rivivere gli anni '60 con la loro musica e soprattutto con i Beatles, il gruppo di Liverpool che ha lasciato un'indelebile eredita` agli amanti della musica di tutto il mondo?
Andate a vedere lo show "Get Back-The Story of the Beatles" al teatro Tivoli di Dublino dove si esibisccono quattro musicisti irlandesi di alto calibro, Scott Maher, Fran King, Rob McKinney, Binzer Brennan, che si definiscono "The Classic Beatles". A talk and two documentaries on Bergamo and Lake Iseo at the Italian Institute of Culture - Dublin

Last night 12th December 2011, Dr Concetto La Malfa, Editor of ITALIA STAMPA and www.italvideonews.com gave a talk on Bergamo, Citta` dei Mille and lake Iseo at the Italian Institute of Culture, Dublin. The talk was followed by the showing of his two documentaries on the same subjects. The Italian Institute organized the evening in connection with the celebrations this year of the150th Anniversary of the Unity of Italy.

The Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin is of Italian descent

Maria Parodi (Labour), Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin, is the daughter of a Genoese. We had the pleasure of talking to her at the Mansion House to-day 23rd August 2011. She holds the third most prestigious office after the President and the Lord Mayor, in the footsteps of a gentleman called Joe Nannetti of Italian extraction who was Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1906 and 1907.

AMBITO PREMIO ASSEGNATO AL RISTORANTE CAMPO DE' FIORI

Al rinomanto ristorante italiano Campo de' Fiori aBray Co. Wicklow e` stato assegnato quest'anno, per la seconda volta consecutiva, il prestigioso Food& Wine Magazine/Penfolds Restaurant of the year Award. Erano in concorrenza ben 500 ristoranti in tutta l'Irlanda.
Nella foto a destra sono ripresi i proprietari di Campo de' Fiori, Marco e Laura Roccasalvo, mentre reggono in mano la placca del premio.

A book on Italian Cuisine

On 20th October 2011, the reputed Dublin Bookshop Hodges Figgis hosted the launch of a culinary book on Italian cuisine entitled "Dunne & Crescenzi - The Menu". This well presented, hard cover book is the work of Eileen Dunne of the "Dunne and Crescenzi" restaurant chain in Dublin and outside Dublin. To present the launch was famous economist Dr Constantin Gurdgiev.

INIZIATIVA CHARITY DEL CLUB ITALIANO IRLANDA
Dopo il terremoto a L`Aquila il 6 Aprile 2009, il Club Italiano Irlanda ha raccolto fondi con i quali ha contribuito all'arredamento di una casa universitaria a Pizzoli. L' arredamento di questa casa universitaria è stato possibile grazie alla generosità degli emigrati in Irlanda provenienti da Casalattico e dalla Valle di Comino, con la partecipazione di vari enti italo-irlandesi fra cui: Kart Club Italia, Irlandiani, Fillippo Guida Tipperary, Westbury Snooker Club, Dante Alighieri Society Cork, Associazione Culturale Casale-Attici e Phil O Sullivan della Kepak.
L' architetto Dino Lieghio ci ha fatto conoscere l'ingegnere Giulio Carnevale e sua moglie Angela Bove e tramite loro abbiamo raggiunto la somma di €26,707.31.
A l'inaugurazione il 26 Novembre 2011 erano presenti il sindaco di Pizzoli Angela D'Andrea che ha accolto i rappresentati del Club al comune di Pizzoli, con il Rettore dell'Università de L'Aquila, l’Assessore del comune di Casalattico Dino Lieghio, Antonietta Cirefice, Franco Gabriele, nonché rappresentanti di I.T.I.C.A, Irlandiani e del Club Italiano. È stato molto commovente a visitare il locale arredato con dentro gli studenti.

ROUND TABLE AT THE EUROPEAN UNION HOUSE DUBLIN

On 2nd of February, the Editor of Italia Stampa ww.italvideonews.com, Dr Concetto La Malfa, organized a Round Table Debate on the economic and financial crisis in Europe at the European Union House in Dublin. Four distinguished speakers were part of the panel: Dr Constantin Gurdgiev, Prof. Liberato Santoro, Dr Kiearn Allen and Dr Georg Grote.
Main subjects of the debate, which was attended by 50 people, were the corruption of capitalism and the austerity measures which governments of European countries are taking to overcome the crisis.
At the end of the debate those present were treated to an Italian buffet offered by LITTLE ITALY LTD in Dublin.

Visita di cortesia all'Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Dublino

La sera del 19 dicembre 2011, l'Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Dublino ha ricevuto in breve visita di cortesia il simpaticissino CT della Nazionale di Calcio irlandese Giovanni Trapattoni.
A fare gli onori di casa e` stata Dr Angela Tangianu, direttore dell'Istituto, che ha presentato Trapattoni ad un numeroso gruppo di studenti serali. E` inutile dire che il famoso ospite e` stato accolto con grandissimo piacere.

Dr Enzo Farinella's Lecture at Trinity College Dublin

Last night 19th January 2012, Dr Enzo Farinella held a lecture on "The Cultural Contribution of the Irish Monks to Europe and Italy from the 6th Century onward", in the Johnathan Swift Room at Trinity College Dublin.
The interesting lecture, organized in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture, was introduced by Dr Sarah Alyn Stacey, Head of the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, TCD.
It was a very comprehensive and enlightening lecture which revealed in detail the tremendous contribution by so many Irish religious and non religious personages who, through history, have left a legacy in the development of Culture in Italy, Europe and all the known world at the time.

Romano Morelli, proprietor of Romano Restaurant, Capel Street Dublin, is an example to us all. For over 20 years he has been winning cycling races in Ireland, since he took on cycling at the venerable age or 38!

INTERESTING LECTURE ON TRAFFICKING IN HUMAN BEINGS AT THE IIEA-DUBLIN

Today 2nd February2012, Dr. Maria Grazia Giammarinaro, the OSCE Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, held a lecture hosted by the Institute of International and European Affairs in Dublin on the theme “Policy Dilemmas in Preventing Trafficking in Human Beings for Labour Exploitation”.
Dr Giammarinaro, who was introduced by Ms Nora Owen, former Irish Minister for Justice, discussed anti-trafficking action in the broader perspective of “decent work and social justice in a globalised world”. She examined the reasons for such a strategic approach and illustrate the policy dilemmas that need to be addressed to achieve meaningful results in the struggle against modern day slavery.

Il famoso scrittore siciliano, al quale ieri 5 dicembre 2011, University College Dublin ha conferito una laurea in Lettere honoris causa, ha stasera incontrato il pubblico in un'aula dell'Universita`.
La sua presenza in Irlanda e` stata possibile grazie all'interessamento della Foundation of Italian Studies di University College Dublin.
